Who’s driving your learning?

on

The amount of knowledge available today, and its speed of change, is altering the way we work and learn. And this is not an incremental change. It is a revolution.

This experience of rapidly changing information is so commonplace that we barely notice it, but the internet is revolutionising workplace learning, and it’s a process we’re only just beginning. In his foreword to Next Generation Digital Learning Strategies (Ark Group 2012), Charles Jennings quotes Evans and Wurster’s 1999 book Blown to Bits:

What does it feel like when you’ve done a good day’s work in L&D? It’s satisfying. It feels good. Maybe you helped an organization do a better job, or stretch their budget further, or even helped some individuals achieve something they never thought they could. That’s a good day’s work.
